 Goals and Objectives The goal of PEI is to reduce the barriers associated with long term unemployment in five Eastside Detroit zip codes in- including zip code areas: 48205, 48207, 48213, 48214, 48215 and the eastern section of Detroit’s Empowerment Zone.
Objectives:
Strengthening family and support networks using a multi-faceted approach of family coaching, employment coaching, crisis intervention, and peer and community support.
Increasing the economic vitality of businesses through the strengthening of a healthier, labor market prepared workforce.
Building bridges between Eastside residents and businesses by improving access to well paying jobs and through the facilitation of opportunities for dialogue and mutually beneficial activities.
Addressing and reducing the structural barriers to sustained employment such as access to child care, transportation and higher education/training.
By building bridges between educational institutions, employers and East side residents to improve the capacity of educational institutions and Eastside residents to meet the needs of employers.
Effecting systemic change through advocacy, study groups and policy reform.
